'stones' is the definition.
(I know this)

'beat music ultimately' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'music' could be 'c' and 'c' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'roks' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'identifies' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for rocks that I've seen before include "Sways; stuns" , "Crags; diamonds" , "Boulders" , "Shakes violently - perhaps to mod music" , "Causes shock to; diamonds" .)
