Become worn out from battle (4)
I believe the answer is:
fray
This clue might be a double definition.
'become worn' is the first definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'out from battle' is the second definition.
'fray' can be an answer for 'battle' (fray is a kind of battle). I am unsure of the 'out from' bit.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for fray that I've seen before include "Chafe" , "Become threadbare - fight" , "Brawl - become tattered at the edge" , "Wear away at the edges" , "In which perhaps cuffs" .)
