The definition and answer can be both to do with ownership as well as being present participle verbs.
Maybe there's an association between them I don't understand?
'successful in repairing the damage?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'successful' could be 'in' (similar in meaning) and 'in' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
