Bell sounds for fight (4-4)
I believe the answer is:
ding-dong
'fight' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'bell sounds' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'sounds' could be 'din' (a din is a noisy disturbance) and 'din' is found within the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'for' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for ding-dong that I've seen before include "Sound of a clapper bell" , "Fight (with hammer and tongs?)" , "Sound of bell or slang argument" , "Fierce argument (colloq.)" , "Violent exchange - sound of a bell" .)
