Bloomer by centre for British Lions? (6,5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

london pride

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'bloomer' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'centre for british lions?' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'lions?' could be 'pride' (pride is the collective noun for a group of lions) and 'pride' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'london' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

'by' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for london pride that I've seen before include "that gives EastEnder swelling?" , "Variety of saxifrage" , "Flower, type of saxifrage" , "Saxifrage with pinkish-white flowers" , "A saxifrage - a Fuller's ale" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
