Ross

I believe the answer is:

catamaran

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'boat' is the definition.
(I know that catamaran is a type of boat)

'can crossing a river in the west country' is the wordplay.
'crossing' indicates putting letters inside.
'a river in the west country' becomes 'tamara' (I am not sure about this - if you are sure you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'can' going around 'tamara' is 'CATAMARAN'.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for catamaran that I've seen before include "Quarrelsome woman" , "Boat with two hulls" , "Two-hulled boat" , "Twin- hulled vessel" , "Boat with twin, parallel hulls" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
