I believe the answer is:
rapport
'bond' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'left after reprimand' is the wordplay.
'left' becomes 'port' (left side of a ship - opposite of starboard).
'after' says to put letters next to each other.
'reprimand' becomes 'rap' (rap is a kind of reprimand).
'port' put after 'rap' is 'RAPPORT'.
