Bowler changes end to get ratings (6)
I believe the answer is:
seamen
'bowler changes' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are plural nouns, I can't understand how they can define each other.
'end to get ratings' is the wordplay.
'end' becomes 'amen' (I have seen 'End of prayer ' mean 'amen' so perhaps 'end' could also mean 'amen').
'to' means one lot of letters go next to another (I've seen this in other clues).
'get ratings' becomes 'se' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'amen' put after 'se' is 'SEAMEN'.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for seamen that I've seen before include "Sailors" , "mates, maybe" .)
