Bring out drug sanctioned by law (6)
I believe the answer is:
elicit
'bring out' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'drug sanctioned by law' is the wordplay.
'drug' becomes 'e' (E is another name for ecstasy).
'sanctioned by law' becomes 'licit' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'e'+'licit'='ELICIT'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for elicit that I've seen before include "Bring out - evoke" , "Draw out from, invoke" , "Call forth, educe" , "Get out" , "Draw out from, say meaning" .)
