Crossword Genius

Broadcast clip showing match (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

pair

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'match' is the definition.
(I know that match can be written as pair)

'broadcast clip' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'broadcast' could be 'air' (synonyms) and 'air' is found within the answer.
A single letter 'p' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

'showing' acts as a link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for pair that I've seen before include "Cereal used as food" , "Two of a kind, as in cards" , "Two ducks in one game of cricket" , "players of duet?" , "Put together - two of a kind" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
