Broadcast indicated might in giant chestnut tree (7)
I believe the answer is:
redwood
'tree' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'broadcast indicated might in giant chestnut' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'chestnut' could be 'red' (chestnut is a shade of red) and 'red' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'wood' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for redwood that I've seen before include "Sequoia tree" , "Californian conifer" , "John -, MP; large tree" , "Giant tree of California" , "Conservative MP" .)
