Crossword Genius

Cabled: 'Entertainment, no role in particular' (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

funicular

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'role in particular' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are adjectives, I cannot see how they can define each other.

'cabled entertainment no' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'entertainment' could be 'fun' (fun is something entertaining) and 'fun' is located in the answer.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for funicular that I've seen before include "Using a cable" , "Railway up the side of a mountain" , "(Of a railway) cable-operated" , "Cable railway" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
