Crossword Genius

Cage makers? (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ribs

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

This might be a double definition.

'cage' is the first definition.
(I've seen this before)

'makers?' is the second definition.
Although both the answer and definition are plural nouns, I cannot understand how one could define the other.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ribs that I've seen before include "Spurs?" , "Arched bones in the upper body" , "Bones in chest, may be floating" , "Is making fun of" , "cage" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
