Called before match not being broadcast (3)
I believe the answer is:
nee
'called' is the definition.
(nee may be written to show someone's name at birth)
'before match not being broadcast' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'before' could be 'e' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'e' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ne' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for nee that I've seen before include "Born in Paris" , "called before wedding?" , "Born as (French)" , "It indicates a married woman's single name" , "Name originally" .)
