Crossword Genius

Calls to give up greed, say? (5,2)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

drops in

'calls' is the definition.
(call can mean to visit or drop in)

'give up greed say?' is the wordplay.
'give up' becomes 'drop' (dropping is a kind of giving up).
'greed say?' becomes 'sin' (greed is a kind of sin).
'drop'+'sin'='DROPS IN'

'to' is the link.

(Other definitions for drops in that I've seen before include "eye thus getting less inflamed?" , "Casually visits" , "Calls casually" , "Comes to see" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
