Calm down everybody at the far limits of bay (5)
I believe the answer is:
allay
'calm' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'down everybody at the far limits of bay' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'everybody' could be 'all' (I've seen this before) and 'all' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'ay' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for allay that I've seen before include "Calm, put at rest" , "Diminish or end (fears)" , "Relieve, soothe" , "Lay to rest (fear)" , "Mitigate" .)
