Cancel clean out (5)

I believe the answer is:
scrub
This might be a double definition.
'cancel' is the first definition.
(scrub can mean to cancel or erase)
'clean out' is the second definition.
'scrub' can be an answer for 'clean' (scrub can mean to clean). I am unsure of the 'out' bit.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scrub that I've seen before include "Stunted growth" , "Scour; cancel" , "Cancel; clean vigorously" , "Rough country area" , "Scour - stunted trees" .)
