Cancelled article withdrawn from yearbook was the best (8)
I believe the answer is:
annulled
'cancelled' is the definition.
(annulling is a kind of cancelling)
'article withdrawn from yearbook was the best' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'article' could be 'an' (English indefinite article) and 'an' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'nulled' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for annulled that I've seen before include "Declared to no longer exist" , "Declared invalid" , "Cancelled" , "Made legally void" , "Made invalid" .)
