Cards won by Yankee displaying cunning (6)
I believe the answer is:
tricky
'displaying cunning' is the definition.
(I know this)
'cards won by yankee' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'yankee' could be 'y' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.) and 'y' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'trick' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for tricky that I've seen before include "Complicated" , "Problematic - deceitful" , "Deceitful, crafty" , "Crafty or difficult" , "Awkward - dishonest" .)
