Carry on and return for work (4)
I believe the answer is:
wage
'carry on' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'return for work' is the wordplay.
'return' becomes 'age' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'for' says to put letters next to each other (I've seen this in other clues).
'work' becomes 'w' (physics abbreviation).
'age' put after 'w' is 'WAGE'.
'and' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for wage that I've seen before include "something to do with war?" , "conduct" , "Carry on - remuneration" , "Earnings - carry on" , "practise" .)
