Carrying the alarm - it's very light (7)
I believe the answer is:
feather
'very light' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't understand how one could define the other.
'carrying the alarm' is the wordplay.
'carrying' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'alarm' becomes 'fear' (I've seen this before).
'the' put inside 'fear' is 'FEATHER'.
'it's' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for feather that I've seen before include "Prov. light part of bird" , "Part of covering of bird" , "'Birds of a . . . . . . . flock together'" , "Wing component" , "thing of little importance" .)
