Crossword Genius

Caught in genuine ceasefire (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

truce

'ceasefire' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'caught in genuine' is the wordplay.
'caught' becomes 'c' (cricket abbreviation).
'in' means one lot of letters goes inside another.
'genuine' becomes 'true' ('true' is associated in meaning with 'genuine').
'c' put within 'true' is 'TRUCE'.

(Other definitions for truce that I've seen before include "peace initiative" , "conciliatory agreement" , "halt in fighting" , "Temporary ceasefire" , "Cuter (anag.)" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
