'half-naked' is the wordplay.
'half' means to take half the letters.
'naked' becomes 'starkers' (I've seen this before).
'starkers' halved is 'STAR'.

(Other definitions for star that I've seen before include "Shiner" , "Hollywood figure" , "virtuoso" , "Brilliant person" , "The leading player is heavenly" .)
