I believe the answer is:

benefaction

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'group doing good' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't understand how one could define the other.

'chap european with ginger' is the wordplay.
'chap' becomes 'Ben' (man's name).
'european' becomes 'e' (abbreviation e.g. EU).
'with' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'ginger' becomes 'faction' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'ben'+'e'+'faction'='BENEFACTION'
