(I've seen this in another clue)

I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'make' could be 'sire' (siring is a kind of making) and 'sire' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'n' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
