I believe the answer is:

elated

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'cheered' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with human feelings as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps you can see an association between them that I don't see?

'rude tales partly rejected' is the wordplay.
'partly' indicates a hidden word (part of the clue is used).
'rejected' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'detale' is hidden in the letters of 'rude tales'.
'detale' written backwards gives 'ELATED'.

'as' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for elated that I've seen before include "Feeling overjoyed and happy" , "Highly delighted" , "Overjoyed, in high spirits" , "Filled with joy and pride" , "Intensely delighted and proud" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
