Crossword Genius

Cheese a representative brought into court (9)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

camembert

'cheese' is the definition.
(I know that Camembert is a cheese)

'a representative brought into court' is the wordplay.
'representative' becomes 'member' (I have seen 'Legislative representative ' mean 'member' so perhaps 'representative' could also mean 'member').
'brought into' indicates putting letters inside.
'court' becomes 'ct' (abbreviation used in road names).
'a'+'member'='amember'
'amember' placed within 'ct' is 'CAMEMBERT'.

(Other definitions for camembert that I've seen before include "dairy product" , "soft fare" , "For something to eat" , "Soft rich cheese as made in Normandy" , "French produce" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph and The Guardian.
