Crossword Genius

Child brings home some works of Shakespeare (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sonnets

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'works of shakespeare' is the definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with creating things as well as being verbs in their -s form.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I can't see?

'child brings home' is the wordplay.
'child' becomes 'son' (male child).
'brings home' becomes 'nets' (I've seen this in another clue).
'son'+'nets'='SONNETS'

'some' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sonnets that I've seen before include "Sent son to find short poems" , "lifted poems" , "verses" , "Fourteen-line poems" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
