I believe the answer is:

classic

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'this be lord of the flies ?' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.

'children perhaps in charge' is the wordplay.
'children perhaps' becomes 'class' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'in charge' becomes 'ic' (abbreviation for 'in charge').
'class'+'ic'='CLASSIC'

'could' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for classic that I've seen before include "Great piece of creative writing" , "Of recognized excellence" , "Definitive; of recognised excellence" , "Remarkably typical" , "First-class" .)
