Ross

I believe the answer is:

sweep

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'chimney cleaner's' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'lament' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'lament' could be 'weep' (both can mean to cry) and 'weep' is found in the answer.
A single letter 's' remains which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sweep that I've seen before include "Windmill sail" , "Long oar" , "Clean (eg chimney)" , "Brush; rush" , "a puppet" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
