Chippendale for prime minister! (7-5)
I believe the answer is:
cabinet-maker
'chippendale' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are singular nouns.
Maybe you can see an association between them that I don't see?
'prime minister' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'minister' could be 'cabinet' (cabinet minister is a kind of minister) and 'cabinet' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'maker' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'for' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for cabinet-maker that I've seen is " Skilled joiner making furniture".)
