Class getting place to organise letters (7)
I believe the answer is:
typeset
'class' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are verbs in their base form, I don't understand how one could define the other.
'place to organise letters' is the wordplay.
'place' becomes 'set' (setting is a kind of placing).
'to' says to put letters next to each other (I've seen this in other clues).
'organise letters' becomes 'type' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'set' put after 'type' is 'TYPESET'.
'getting' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for typeset that I've seen before include "(Of fonts) ready to print" , "characters lined up ready for a run-off?" , "compositor" , "Ready to go public" , "Prepare (text) for printing" .)
