Classic work one can read up in the dailies? (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

iliad

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'classic work' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)

'one can read up in the dailies?' is the wordplay.
'ILIAD' is hidden backwards in amongst the letters.
But, I am not sure how the hidden word is indicated.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for iliad that I've seen before include "tale of woes" , "literary work" , "The -----, Homeric epic" , "Epic poem attributed to Homer" , "No short tale" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
