Clip from the picture, a long one? (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

epic

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'a long one?' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are adjectives. Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?

'clip from the picture' is the wordplay.
'clip' means to remove the last letter (I've seen 'clipped' mean this).
'from' becomes 'ex'.
'the picture' becomes 'pic'.
'ex' with its final letter removed is 'e'.
'e'+'pic'='EPIC'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for epic that I've seen before include "Long poem/story" , "Long poem etc" , "great film" , "Long poem telling of great events" , "Impressive scope" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
