Crossword Genius

Clobber from traveller's case with little weight (7)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

trounce

'clobber' is the definition.
(I know that clobber is a more specific form of the action trounce)

'traveller's case with little weight' is the wordplay.
'case' says to hollow out the word (remove centre letters).
'with' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'little weight' becomes 'ounce' (unit of weight).
'traveller' with its centre removed is 'tr'.
'tr'+'ounce'='TROUNCE'

'from' acts as a link.

(Other definitions for trounce that I've seen before include "Beat roundly" , "Thrash" , "summons" , "Beat severely" , "Lick" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
