facets

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'angles' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both related to thinking as well as being plural nouns.
Perhaps there's an association between them I don't understand?

'club's striker trying shearer's headers' is the wordplay.
'club's striker' becomes 'face' (I can't justify this - if you can you should believe this answer much more).
'headers' indicates taking the first letters (I've seen 'header' mean this (in a down clue, the letter at the top of the word)).
The initial letters of 'trying shearers' is 'ts'.
'face'+'ts'='FACETS'

'and' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for facets that I've seen before include "Faces of cut gemstones" , "Sides or surfaces" , "Surfaces or aspects" , "Sides of a cut gemstone" , "Surfaces of a cut gem" .)

I've seen this clue in The Telegraph.
