Crossword Genius

Cockney recovering part of capital (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

ealing

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'cockney recovering part' is the definition.
'ealing' can be an answer for 'part' (I have seen 'part of London' mean 'ealing' so perhaps 'part' could also mean 'ealing'). I'm unsure of the 'cockney recovering' bit.

I can't explain the remainder of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for ealing that I've seen before include "Classic comedy 8 studio" , "Name for British films like The Lavender Hill Mob" , "Genial in London district" , "English film studio famous for comedies" , "West London film studio, famous for its comedies" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
