Collect more pay (5)
I believe the answer is:
raise
This might be a double definition.
'collect' is the first definition.
(I know that raise is a more specific form of the action collect)
'more pay' is the second definition.
The answer and definition can be both to do with communicating as well as being verbs in their base form.
Perhaps there's a link between them I don't understand?
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for raise that I've seen before include "Erect; grow" , "Bring up - an increase in pay" , "Lift up or rear" , "rally" , "Bring up, rear" .)
