Crossword Genius

Coming down to disassemble runway (7,5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

landing strip

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'runway' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'coming down to disassemble' is the wordplay.
'coming down' becomes 'landing' (I've seen this before).
'to disassemble' becomes 'strip' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'landing'+'strip'='LANDING-STRIP'

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for landing strip that I've seen before include "Area used by light aircraft" , "down-to-earth way?" , "fly from here" , "flights end here)" , "Runway" .)

I've seen this clue in The Daily Express.
