Communications device to signal unwittingly (9)
I believe the answer is:
telegraph
'signal unwittingly' is the definition.
'telegraph' can be an answer for 'signal' (I've seen this before). I am unsure of the 'unwittingly' bit.
'communications device' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'device' could be 'leg' (leg is a kind of device) and 'leg' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'teraph' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of the clue (or it may be nonsense).
'to' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for telegraph that I've seen before include "Daily" , "give advance notice" , "It's used for communications over wires" , "Messaging system" , "Signal" .)
