Compilers in transport getting reduced fare from Asia (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

sushi

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'fare from asia' is the definition.
'sushi' can be an answer for 'fare' (sushi is a kind of food). I am not sure about the 'from asia' bit.

'compilers in transport getting reduced' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'compilers' could be 'us' (the compiler and their colleagues) and 'us' is present in the answer.
The remaining letters 'shi' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for sushi that I've seen before include "Cold rice balls with raw fish" , "Japanese food" , "Japanese cold rice dish" , "Japanese rice-based dish" , "fare from Japan" .)

I've seen this clue in The Times.
