I believe the answer is:

(I know that right-winger is a type of conservative)
'a member of the team?' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'member' could be 'right' (right is a kind of member) and 'right' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'winger' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
