I cannot understand how the remainder of the clue works.

(Other definitions for disc that I've seen before include "Flat thin circular body" , "Layer of cartilage between spinal vertebrae" , "Layer of cartilege between vertebrae" , "One of 33, 45 or 78?" , "Thin circular plate, as in CD" .)
