Crossword Genius

Continentals like like Scot and son (6)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

asians

'continentals' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'like scot and son' is the wordplay.
'like' becomes 'as'.
'scot' becomes 'ian'.
'and' means one lot of letters go next to another.
'son' becomes 's' (genealogical abbreviation for son).
'as'+'ian'+'s'='ASIANS'

'like' is the link.

(Other definitions for asians that I've seen before include "Natives of e.g. India" , "Eg, Chinese, Indians, etc" , "Eg, those from thirteen across" , "They come from countries such as India and Pakistan" , "Continentals" .)

I've seen this clue in the Evening Standard.
