Contracted tenor found sloshed in outhouse (9)
I believe the answer is:
shortened
'contracted' is the definition.
('shorten' can be a synonym of 'contract')
'tenor found sloshed in outhouse' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
an anagram of 'tenor' is 'orten' which is located in the answer.
'outhouse' could be 'shed' (I've seen this before) and 'shed' is found in the remaining letters.
No letters remain.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Another definition for shortened that I've seen is " Truncated".)
