Convertible Eclat, souped up, showcasing panache (9)
I believe the answer is:
cabriolet
'convertible' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'eclat souped up showcasing panache' is the wordplay.
I cannot really see how this works, but
'panache' could be 'brio' (I've seen this in another clue) and 'brio' is found in the answer.
an anagram of 'eclat' is 'calet' which is within the left over letters.
This accounts for all the letters.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for cabriolet that I've seen before include "convertible" , "Horse-drawn carriage with two seats and a folding hood" , "vehicle" , "Soft-top car" , "Car with a folding top -- trace boil (anag)" .)
