Crossword Genius

Cooking grains in oil with an innate taint (8,3)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

original sin

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'an innate taint' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.

'cooking grains in oil' is the wordplay.
'cooking' indicates anagramming the letters (cook can mean to falsify or distort).
'grains'+'in'+'oil'='grainsinoil'
'grainsinoil' with letters rearranged gives 'ORIGINAL SIN'.

'with' is the link.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for original sin that I've seen before include "Supposed innate tendency to evil" , "eating forbidden fruit" , "Tendency to evil inherited by all descendants of Adam?" , "that's supposedly everyone's fault?" , "(In Christian theology) the innate tendency towards evil" .)

I've seen this clue in the Sydney Morning Herald.
