Cosmetic stuff put on cheek (8)
I believe the answer is:
lipstick
'cosmetic' is the definition.
(I know that lipstick is a type of make-up)
'put on cheek' is the wordplay.
'put' becomes 'stick' (I've seen this in other clues).
'on' is a charade indicator (letters next to each other).
'cheek' becomes 'lip' (both can mean insolence or rudeness).
'stick' after 'lip' is 'LIPSTICK'.
'stuff' acts as a link.
I am not very happy about this link. It may be part of another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for lipstick that I've seen before include "offered to one's face" , "Cosmetic item" , "Coloured cosmetic" , "Skit clip about a cosmetic" , "Type of cosmetic" .)
