Could those be news of such a tiger? (5)
I believe the answer is:
paper
'tiger?' is the definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I don't see how one could define the other.
'could those be news of such a' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'a' could be 'per' (eg 'one a day' means 'one per day') and 'per' is located in the answer.
The remaining letters 'pa' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for paper that I've seen before include "round > tiger" , "News medium" , "Alternative to scissors or stone?" , "Dissertation" , "It's made from wood pulp generally" .)
