Crawled to get some eggs? (9)

I believe the answer is:
scrambled
'crawled' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with motion as well as being past participle verbs.
Perhaps you can see a link between them that I don't see?
I can't explain the remainder of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for scrambled that I've seen before include "like the RAF officer's eggs?" , "quickly sent flying" , "Ordered a fighter aircraft to take off immediately" , "Made electronic messages unintelligible" , "Thrown together in a disorderly fashion" .)
